The cut-off date for the early registration fee for the World Convention 2012 has been changed. The 100,000 JPY registration fee is now available to everyone who registers by Oct. 31, 2011.

In other words, there will not be a higher registration fee for people who register between August 1 and October 31, 2011.

As previously announced, registration for the World Convention 2012 will close on Oct. 31, 2011.

After the postponement of the World Convention to 2012 was announced, 700 registrants told us that they would like their registration for 2011 to be transferred to the 2012 Convention. As a result, 300 places have opened up for new registrations.

Right now, there are also some spaces available in the Culture Programs. New registrants can apply to participate in a Culture Program by filling out the new registration form B.

We would like to welcome as many members as possible as registrants for the World Convention 2012. New registration forms will be available on the I.I. Web site.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience resulting from the postponement of the World Convention. Japan Travel Bureau Global Marketing & Travel (JTBGMT), which is the official travel agency of the World Convention, is in the process of refunding 100% of the registration fee to those members who cancelled their registration before June 1. We really appreciate your patience.

Thank you very much for your concern about the 10th World Convention.

Starting June 1, 2011, the refund policy for all registrants, including those had been registered for the 2011 World Convention and new registrants for the 2012 World Convention, is as follows:

• 90% refund up to Oct. 31, 2011
• 50% refund Nov. 1, 2011 to Feb. 29, 2012
• No refunds after Feb. 29, 2012

New registrations for the 10th World Convention 2012 will be accepted starting from June 1, 2011. The new Registration Forms (Forms A and B) will be available on the I.I. web site.

All registrants who had been accepted as exhibitors for the World Convention Ikebana Exhibition and/or as participants in one of the Culture Programs will have their place in those programs transferred to the 10th World Convention 2012.

New registrants can apply to participate in the Ikebana Exhibition and the Culture Programs in the new Registration Form B. New applicants will be accepted if possible.

I hope that you had a happy holiday season.
I wish for a peaceful 2012 for the whole world.

This is the year of the Ikebana International 10th World Convention 2012. As you know, in 2011, major disasters happened in Japan and terrible problems occurred in many other areas of the world. Here in Japan, we experienced an overwhelming natural disaster on March 11. Since then, normal life is slowly being restored. I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation that we are able to hold the 10th World Convention this year. Despite the current circumstances, including the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami disasters and the nuclear plant problems in Japan, the appreciation of the yen, and a recession, approximately 800 members and friends have shown their enthusiastic support for the Ikebana International World Convention by registering for the World Convention.

In the previous issue of Sakura News, which was sent to members in October 2011, I announced the revised schedule for the World Convention 2012. The Convention Notes, including errata, were sent in November 2011 to new registrants, that is, those who had registered for the World Convention after the decision had been made to postpone the Convention to 2012. Members who registered for the 2011 Convention and then transferred their registration to the World Convention 2012 will not be sent another copy of Convention Notes.
At the reception desk of the World Convention, all registrants will be given the Convention Handbook, which includes information about all the details of the World Convention. I am pleased to announce that our plans are moving forward smoothly for the Ikebana International 10th World Convention 2012.
The deadline for making reservations for the World Convention is February 10, 2012. Those who plan to attend the convention but have not yet registered should contact Ikebana International Headquarters as soon as possible. Your registration form must be received at Ikebana International Headquarters by February 10 at the latest.
